Phil Eugene Edmiston
[April 7, 2008]

[Posted in The Commercial Appeal April 10, 2008]
PHIL EUGENE EDMISTON, 53, died April 7, 2008. He is now inthe presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, because of his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Phil was a Godly man of integrity, with strong conviction and discipline. He loved God's Word, studied and memorized it. He was a man of prayer. He loved spending time with his family, flying and playing racquetball. He served the Lord as a missionary jungle pilot in the 1980's. He met and married his wife of 23 years, Maritza, in Costa Rica in 1985. They served together in Columbia, South America with Wycliffe Bible Translators. In Columbia, the Lord blessed them with Jonathan in 1989. Jonathan and Maritza have been the center of Phil's life. He was a faithful husband and committed father. He was very proud of Jonathan, and was very active in his life. He and Maritza raised Jonathan in a Christ centered home, in the nurture and admonition of the L ord. He was currently employed at Federal Express. He worked well with his hands in building, and repairing most anything. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois in 1978 and from Moody Aviation School in Elizabethton, TN in 1982. He was preceded in death by his parents, Avris "Ed" Edmiston and Eilene K. Edmiston, as well as his brother Don Edmiston. He leaves his wife of 23 years, Maritza Lara Edmiston and son, Jonathan David Edmiston, both of Bartlett, TN. He also leaves his siblings, George Kaylor Edmiston, Beth Edmiston Roberts, Carolyn Edmiston Evans, Bryan David Edmiston, all from the Memphis area, and James Gordon Edmiston of Virginia. He will be remembered and honored with a visitation at Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway Chapel from 12 Noon until service time at 2 p.m., Friday, April 11 with the interment to follow in Memory Hill Gardens of Bartlett. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Maritza's Ministry, Las Perseveradoras, P.O. Bo x 34126, Bartlett, TN 38134. He'll be greatly missed, but "we walk by faith, not by sight. We are of good courage...(because) to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:7-8). Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway Chapel 901-725-0100

Rita Ferguson Crocker
[Kidney Cancer, November 20, 2005]

[The following was posted by Suzanne Smith Reynolds on 12-5-05]  Rita had been diagnosed with kidney cancer, and she had one kidney removed about 10 years ago.  After that, she had been cancer-free up until recently.  They were preparing to remove the second kidney, but she had a blood clot in her lung and died unexpectedly.  I have to say that God saved her from much pain and hardship. She leaves her husband Don, a son Kyle, 25 (who has Downs syndrome), and one daughter Kaitlin, who is a junior in High School.
