Andy Bland
[heart attack, December 2, 2000]

[The following was posted on 2-8-06 by Andy's siblings, Nancy (Class of 75), Tommy, Ellen, and Lisa (78), and Gena (80).]
Andy passed away of a very unexpected heart attack on December 2, 2000 while helping his wife and two young boys feed the animals on their land out in the country. He had just spent the day doing what he loved most, in the woods, hunting. Andy left his wife and three kids. Lauren is 24 years old, just settling in with a new job in NC after attending culinary schools in Canada and Italy (she is a chef at Nobles). His boys, George and John, 17 and 14 years old, live in Collierville with their mother. Those of you that remember Andy can imagine the void his death has created when the family gets together. Everyone knew when Andy entered the room. We have very fond memories and miss him greatly.

Martha Grammer
[motorcycle accident, April 2, 1974]

[The following was posted on 5-10-06 by Martha's sister Marie (Class of 75)]
Martha Grammer (originally class of '74 but graduated early in '73) died on April 2, 1974 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash. That was one month before her 18th birthday. Being the middle sister of three girls, she was nicknamed "Sister" early in life, and many of her friends called her that. Many of you may also remember she played trumpet in the REHS band. After graduating from REHS, she attended Memphis State University.

As her younger sister, I will share one memory. When we were little, we played paper dolls a lot. Hers were always adventurous and fun. I used to wish I'd chosen HER dolls because while hers were exciting, mine were boring!! Looking back as an adult, I realize of course it was because she was adventurous and fun and creative that her dollls always had more fun!!! She was a wild child, but I believe she did accept Jesus as her Savior, and based on that we do not grieve as those who have no hope!!!
