Cathy Shanklin Maharrey

My sister, Cathy Shanklin Maharrey, passed away on
December 21, 2002. Cathy died of cancer after a
heroic six-year struggle. Cathy helped doctors
understand and eventually change the evaluation
procedure for pain management protocol for people
with cancer. We will miss her forever.

Cathy and I became much closer after high school. I
consider myself incredibly lucky to have been her
friend. She loved her family and friends, and she
fought a long hard battle with faith, hope and more
strength than I thought possible. I miss her every
single day.
